test flight / 테스트 비행

someone at work offered us to go on a test flight last week. so i got to go on a 767 flying to Birmingham for some in-flight testings. only 7 of us on the aircraft (including pilots) and cockpit wide open for us to join. several G's pulled to induce stress on the aircraft. my knees would bend and i would keep sinking, i felt even motion sick (i don't usually get motion sick...), it was quite the experience :D

지난주에 일에서 누가 테스트 비행하는데 타지 않겠냐고 물어봐왔다.
냉큼 타겠다고해서 보잉 767타고 시험비행하러 버밍햄에 다녀왔다.
뱅기에는 조종사까지 포함해서 총 7명 탑승..ㅋㅋㅋ
조종실에 비행중 아무때나 들어갈수있게 해줬다.
비행기에 압력을 가하기 위해 상당한 중력을 끌어냈는데,
무릎이 굽혀지더니 계속 몸이 가라앉는가 하면,
어지럽고 멀미 상태까지 가기도.. (원래 멀미 잘 안나는데)
암튼 굉장히 재밌는 경험이었다 ㅎㅎ

i had the honor (and brutal... i kid) to help out redoing the flooring of a room. i forget how much everything cost, but apparently it was a lot cheaper than paying a professional i guess. about two days of work from ripping out the carpet to completion of flooring. after finishing up everything (i didn't do the last 20%), i couldn't believe we actually did all this. what a nice sense of satisfaction!

방에 장판을 깔 수 있는 기회가 주어졌다.
총 가격은 전문인 불러서 해달라는것보다 훨씬 싼걸로 기억하는데..
카펫뜯기부터 장판 마무리까지 한 이틀의 시간.
우리가 정말 이걸 해냈다는게 믿겨지지 않을정도로,
아름다워보였다..ㅋㅋㅋ
아~ 뿌듯해라 ㅎㅎ

like the subject title, i got a new phone... with an 8mp camera!! since i have my phone with me everywhere i go (except for the showers), i am quite more motivated to take pictures than when i had my old camera... below are some pics from my trip to st louis. pretty nice city, i must say. nice views up there... haha.

it's that time...winter / 겨울이 왔네요.

season's changed. meteorologically and emotionally. the former, don't like it too much. as for the latter, perhaps a change for the better... but why do i get this feeling that i'm chasing clouds?


계절이 바꼈다. 기상적으로 그리고 심적으로. 전자는 별로. 후자, 후자는 좀 더 나은 방면으로 바뀐듯... 그런데 뜬구름 잡는 기분은 대체 왜 일까?

WORLD CUP/월드컵
it is over... congrats to the Spanish team. i had lots of fun especially b/c of the ESPN bracket and FIFA worldcup fantasy league (and de Jong, just like Zidane from '06). 1st place in my church bracket (7717th worldwide) and 2nd place in a fantasy league with friends (23,682 out of 911,884 haha). but of course, rooting for the Korean team with friends was superb. immediately after the Spain vs. Netherlands match, i was like "what will i do now..."oh man, but life goes on. debating whether i should join other fantasy leagues..

끝났다... 스페인 국가대표 ㅊㅋ
espn브라켓이랑 피파 판타지 축구리그 덕분에 더 재밌게 월드컵을 즐길 수 있었다 (그리고 데 용... 2006년의 지단박치기처럼ㅋ). 교회리그 브라켓에선 1등 (국제 7717등), 친구들과의 판타지 리그에선 2등 (국제 911,884에서 23,682등 ㅋㅋ). 근데 역시 친구들이랑 한국경기 응원할때가 두말할것 없이 진미. 스페인 네덜란드 경기가 끝나고 문득 "아.. 이제 뭐하지..." 서글픔이 다가왔지만. life goes on ㅋㅋㅋ. 다른 판타지 리그에 참가할까 고민중 =_=


HAPPY BIRTHDAY/생일
i greatly enjoyed my 25th, quarter-century, now-rounding-up-to-30 birthday. the whole weekend was a blast! hanging out with many friends, eating some delish food (first time experiences), and the great surprise :) what more can i ask? i thank everyone who wished me a happy birthday, it was indeed a happy one~ and i thank God for the 25 years of my life and the next 25 years that is to come. it's gonna be CRAZY!

나의 (미국에선) 25번째, "반세기의 반," "반올림 서른"의 생일을 아주 즐겁게 맞이했다. 주말 전체가 아주 우왕굿! 여러친구들, 맛있는 음식, 그리고 깜짝파티~ 더이상 뭘 바랄까... 축하해준 모든 사람들에게 감사해유~ 정말 재밌었음^^ 그리고 지난 25년의 인생을 주신 하느님께 감사드리며, 다음 25년도 잘 부탁드립니다~ㅎㅎ 기대만빵!! :)


FOOD/음식
can't live without it. here are a few places i had the chance to visit:
음식없인 살 수가 없죠.. 최근에 다녀본 몇몇 식당들:

China Delight - had dimsum for lunch, thanks to two friends who knew what to order and speak to the waiters/waitresses, and to the one who introduced the place to us. anything with shrimp and pork was awesome! didn't get to try the "phoenix claws" haha, maybe next time~
차이나 디라잇 - 점심때 딤섬먹으러 몇몇 친구들과 다녀온 중국식당. 뭘 시킬줄 알고 종업원들과 의사소통이 가능했던 두 친구, 그리고 식당을 소개해준 친구덕분에 맛있게 식사를 했다. 새우와 돼지고기가 들어간 딤섬은 모두 최고! "불사조발톱 (닭발)"은 못먹었다.. 꽝! 다음 기회에?

Honey Pig - all-you-can-eat 3GS! the meat was fantastic. had a round each of all three choices, cha-dol-baek-ee, sam-gyup-sal, and heuk-dwe-gee (black pig) sam-gyup-sal. loved the dduk wraps and few but essential side items. the service was not too great. had a lot of wait-time, which hindered us from going all out gluttony, sigh.
허니피그/꿀돼지 - 에서 무제한 삼겹살과 차돌백이! 고기맛이 아주 환상적이었다. 차돌백이, 삼겹살, 흑돼지삼겹살을 한판씩 먹었는데, 떡보쌈과 함께 군콩나물과 군김치, 으갸악!ㅋㅋ 서비스는 썩 뛰어나진 않았다. 고기 한종 끝내고 기다린 시간이 길어서 저팔계로 완벽변신하지 못했다...

Zesto - ice cream and american diner food. i had a Wednesday basket that comes with a "Giant" (single layer) burger, crinkle fries and side of coleslaw, and a softshell taco that came in a basket with chips and two salsas. except for the taco being a bit wet, everything was really good! price was cheap! i need to go back and try other items and, of course, the nut brown crown.
제스토 - 아이스크림 가게지만 보통 버거와 같은 패스트푸드 음식도 판다. 수요일 바스켓이라는 것에 "자이언트" 버거와 두꺼운 후렌치후라이, 콜스로우, 그리고 나초칩과 함께 나온 소프트 타코를 주문. 조금 축축한 타코 빼고는 모두 빼어나게 맛있다! 가격도 초저렴~ 꼭 돌아가서 다른 메뉴템들도 주문해야겠다.. 특히 아이스크림 ㅋ 직역 "땅콩갈색왕관" ㅋㅋㅋ

stuff i cooked/made and ate at home/집에서 해먹은 것들:

- anchovy and tangleweed soup-based noodles... added some artificial flavoring powder by using a tea bag so the powder doesn't actually get into the soup (if that makes sense..). i experienced this weird feeling in my teeth when i add the powder directly to the soup. i don't think it dissolves 100%... thus the tea bag. makes great soup along with the anchovy and tangleweed. also added onions, some fish cake, little bit of soy sauce, and a mixed/scrambled egg.
- 멸치다시마 국물로 먹은 국수. 국물 우려낼때 멸치다시다를 티백에 담아서 끓이기도 했다. 그냥 물에다가 풀으면 가루가 완전분해되지 않고 이빨에 이상한 느낌을 주게 만드는 구린 효과때문에.. 티백에 넣으면 그런 걱정없이 맛있는 국물이 나온다. 물론 국물용 멸치와 다시마, 간장 조금도 추가했지만.. 그리고 양파, 어묵, 계란 풀어넣어서 냠냠~

- strawberry milkshakes, banana milkshakes, watermelon milkshakes... what made these possible, obviously the fruits (frozen), but also condensed milk. also added some milk and sometimes vanilla ice cream. just a little bit of work, and voila! ice cold drinks~
- 딸기 밀크쉐이크, 바나나 밀크쉐이크, 수박 밀크쉐이크. 이를 가능케 만들어준 것들은 얼린 과일들과 (가당) 연유 (condensed milk, sweetened). 우유와 가끔 바닐라 아이스크림도 추가. 조금만 공을 들이면 시원한 음료들이 짜잔~

- thanks to a friend, i got some rib-eye steak! it was my first time cooking it myself (used the stove top instead of a grill). def overcooked my first one... but it was still good T.T only used salt and pepper~ second attempt was much better. made it medium-rare, delish!
-친구 덕에 립아이 스테이크를 먹게됐다! 직접 굽기는 처음 (그릴 대신 걍 스토브탑을 이용).. 첫번째 시도, 대략 지나치게 구워서 망친.. 그래도 맛있었다ㅠㅠ 간은 소금과 후추 뿐! 두번째 시도, 미디엄 레어로 대충 성공! 완전냠냠흐흐~ㅋㅋ

- sin(?) ramen... 신라면 ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ


HEALTH/건강
starting to run and do some light workouts. need some cardio in order to outrun people (or zombies... don't forget to double tap!). and the Sunday soccer games at the Tech turf field continues. overall: very sore these days
요즘 (25살을 기념하여?ㅋ) 가벼운 운동 및 달리기를 진행중이다. 사람들을 따돌리기 위해 유산소 운동이 필요... (혹은 좀비들... 영화 좀비랜드 보셨나요? 나름 재밌는 영화!) 일요일마다 텍에서 하는 축구도 계속 진행중~ 몸이 아주 쑤십니더..ㅋ

i wanted to draw / 그림을 그리고 싶었다

recently picked up my pencil and pad and started drawing away.. i remember enjoying it when i was sorta forced to during art class in Korea. now it's a whole new world of fun! especially coloring with photoshop~

최근에 그림을 다시 그리기 시작했다..
한국에서 미술시간에 억지긴 했지만 많이 그렸고,
그 와중에서도 굉장히 즐겼고, 또 추억이 아련하다...
지금 다시 그리자니 완전 새로운 기분! 여전히 재밌다 :)
특히 포토샵으로 색칠하기에 빠짐 ㅋㅎㅎ

i just found out through Atlanta Food Carts that the Urban Picnic will be held this coming Friday, June 25th at the Sweet Auburn Curb Market (209 Edgewood Ave SE

what is the Urban Picnic? here's a quick AJC article writing about the first event held back in March. and another blogger who wrote about their experience from the first picnic in March. basically, it's an event that presents food made by various street vendors from Atlanta and Georgia for everyone to try. there's no admissions fee, but the food will cost some cash.. btw, it's not the kind of picnic on grass but in a parking lot :)

3월부터 한달에 한번씩 이런 자리를 마련하고자 한다

아틀란타에서 길거리 음식을 한번도 맛보지 못한 나로서는..
이번에 열리는 픽닉에 가고 싶지 않을수가 없다!

not sure if i can make it to the event, but i'm already there in spirit :)

Goals from the Koreas / 한국과 북한의 골장면들

world cup fever continues as the 1st round matches come to an end tomorrow (or i guess now today, the 16th of June) with Honduras vs Chile and Spain vs Switzerland. world cup fantasy league only adds more to the madness :)

각 국의 첫 경기들이 내일(아님 이제 오늘.. 16일) 혼두라스 대 칠레, 스페인 대 스위스 전을 끝이 나지만 월드컵의 열기는 더 뜨거워질 뿐... 내안에서도 제대로 타오르고 있다 ㅋㅋ 월드컵 판타지 리그를 시작했는데.. 정말 재미를 30배 더해주네~

i woke up late and missed Lee Jung Soo's goal... but watched it after the match against Greece thanks to tevo.

이정수의 골은 늦게 일어나서 놓쳤다...
허나 녹화해준 덕에 경기를 마치고 다시보기를 통해 볼수있었다~

Park Ji Sung's goal sent my voice away to neverland. beautiful finish!
지성이형의 골은 그리스와 함께 내 목소리를 날려보냈다.. 멋진 피니쉬!

i was sooooooooooooo proud last Saturday! (and still am!)
한국 대표팀이 너무나도 자랑스러웠던 토요일 아침! (지금도!!) :)

...and another beautiful goal against Brazil from the North Korean defender Ji Yun Nam!
...그리고 북한 수비수 지윤남의 멋진 골!

despite of their 2-1 loss, team North Korea did one heck of a job against Brazil today~
비록 졌지만서도, 브라질을 상대로 정말 멋지게 선전해줬다~

and some random Brazilian old man that kept on appearing on tv kissing his trophy...
그리고 자꾸 중계에서 비춰주던 우승 트로피에 뽀뽀질하는 랜덤한 브라질 할아버지 ㅋㅋ
